GroovetalkSpotlight: David Axelrod’s “The Edge-The Capitol Years” | July 1, 2009

David Axelrod’s “The Capitol Years” is a collection of his signature work, while he was Head of Production at Capitol Records from 1966-1970. This is a must have for any crate digger, sample head, and the like. Many artists have sampled this man. Dr. Dre, De La Soul, Common, Sadat X, Diamond D, Madlib, Quasimoto, No ID, Artifacts, and many more. He was considered way ahead of his time with his, “Wall of Sound.” At the time of his recordings, he worked with some of the best musicians in the world, period. That’s what makes this a “must have.”
